A holy place in Saltash, a holy place for Saltash, and a placeto encounter the holiness of God in Jesus Christ our Lord
The Revd Michael Johnson was commissioned by the Bishop of St Germans as the new Rural Dean and Strategic Lead of East Wivelshire Deanery at a service at St Germans Priory Church, St Germans on Wednesday 10 January. At the service Michael was also licensed as Assistant Curate of the Benefices of The Callington Cluster, The Tamar Valley, Landrake with St Erney & Botus Fleming, Saltash, St Germans with Antony & Sheviock, and Maker with Rame, Millbrook, St John & Torpoint.
Michael trained in business management, theology and theatre, and has applied all three to his work with the Church. His wife, Yulia and their daughters Polina (7) and Milana (5), have moved to St Germans, but look forward to joining all 19 parishes as we journey together on The Saints Way.
Michael was most recently involved leading a team of churches in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. He was previously Creative Mission Enabler for the Sonning Deanery (Oxford diocese). Michael said, ‘I was inspired to accept this role in East Wivelshire because of this deanery’s commitment to change, to reorganise, to connect, to serve, to welcome and to grow together. I really look forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks and months. I’ve already met so many warmhearted and faith-filled people.’
