St. Stephens Community Hall

We have a vision to build a new hall in St Stephens village While this is a church venture the initiative is being taken on behalf of the local community to provide a meeting place for various groups within the local community.  Over the last three years a small working group has been meeting to take this vision forward and is now at the stage of appealing for funds to various grant making bodies The plans of the new building have bee drawn up by a local firm of architects and have been approved by the local authority. St. Nicholas and St. Faith

UPDATE 11th November 2011

Work to strengthen the floor near the entrance door to the church to carry the weight of the heavy radiator was carried out during the summer months. We are now awaiting the return of the radiator to this position. This work is scheduled for November 23rd / 24th. Hopefully after this work has been completed we should have an almost leak free system to keep us warm in worship this winter!.

The Tower Clock Despite having been reinstalled in October after a thorough overhaul the mechanism has not worked properly and so the engineers are being recalled again.

The Choir Vestry Roof. Attempts to raise funds for this work to be put in hand are currently being explored. The Choir are to hold a sponsored sing on Saturday 13th November. We are grateful tio those who have gift aided funds to this appeal.

Altar Frontal.  A new red frontal was recently donated and dedicated in memory of two members of our congregation. We are grateful to their respective families.

St Stephens Update 11th November 2011.

Internal decoration has taken place during he late summer months with various walls and ceilings  having been repainted and investigation made of what appeared to be damp penetration on the tower wall . This area was found to be dry,  the stain being a reminder of  previous water ingress.

The external rain water down spouts have all bee cleaned and painted. The metal rain water guttering sections have been removed for powder coating before their re- erection.
